If we can enjoy perfect view and housing for cheap prices and continue working in large companies in central Israel through Zoom, then why aren’t more Israelis moving to the North? The participants of the youth program joined a journalist from The Public Broadcasting Corporation Rubi Hemrshlag to find answers
The Covid crisis brought many difficulties with it but also some opportunities. One of them is the ability to work from home and the ability to have meetings through Zoom. The members of the youth program of The Movement of Public Journalism in the north of Israel which is operated in collaboration with eight youth centers in central Israel, decided to investigate the following question - if many employees are no longer required to attend their workplace physically, why don’t they take advantage of this opportunity to move to the north and enjoy better quality of life and better housing while still being able to work in the same companies located in central Israel and receive the same high salary. The participants Lal Ohana from the youth center in Kiryat Shemona and Ofir Tal-Buchris from the youth center in Rosh Pina, led by the coordinator of the group, the journalist Reut Mishor, began collecting success and failure stories and speaking with experts regarding this topic. The movement collaborated with the economics desk of the Public Broadcasting Corporation “Kahn” and the product was aired in the economics programme “Mishakey Hakiss” on 3.8.21.
